Insurance : Why do I need it? What does it cover ?
All questions that everyone asks. Is it mandatory ?
Insurance is something that is there as a safety blanket for the unknown. It is mandatory so you can drive a car on the road, however for any other instance it becomes optional. You never know you need it until you need it.
There are countless examples of people who have had no insurance when it is required. For example, A broken leg Skiing can set you back and unable to work for 6 to 8 weeks and may only get sick pay from work. Something more serious like Cancer could keep you out of work for a year, SSP only lasts for 6 months. You could find yourself without SSP and relying on your partner and income support to bring in wages. If you have dependants, have a mortgage, even rent to pay, you need some type of cover.
